28/02/2014 Sponsored Skydive- COMPLETED

Skydive .

Milo's Dad (Stephen Browne) has volunteered himself to complete a sponsored Tandem Skydive to raise funds in aid of Milo.

Stephen's day will start when he arrives at the Peterlee skydive centre in County Durham. He will check in and then be briefed by a professional tandem skydiving instructor. When it is his turn the instructor will kit him out in a jumpsuit, protective head gear, goggles and harness. He will then board the plane, either a Grand Cessna caravan or Cessna 182 aircraft, and fly to altitude ( around 10,000 - 12,000 feet), then skydive !!

In freefall he will experience the amazing excitement of falling towards the earth at around 120mph. At 5000 feet his instructor will then deploy the parachute, slowing him down to a gentle pace so that you can take in the breath taking views. Please show your support by sponsoring him.

Sponsorship for this event has now closed, Thank You to everyone who donated. You can see the final amount raised HERE

3 Peaks Challenge - 20 June at 17:30 until 22 June at 20:30 - COMPLETED
3 Peaks Challenge .

NUCAS Bootcamps are planning to climb Britain's 3 toughest mountains in 24 hours, The 3 peaks challenge was something we all wanted to do to help raise money for the our Milo charity.

Stephen (Milo's Dad) approached Nucas Bootcamps asking for help with regards to any special events we could possibly run related to physical fitness. So we came up with the 3 peaks challenge to be completed within 24 hours, Our first of around 10 training sessions started Sunday 13th April where 9 of us climbed Scarfell pike, the largest mountain in England.

We completed the climb and decent, as a team, in just under 4 hours. We're over the moon with our first main climb, though we now have a fair idea just how hard this task actually is!! The climb was extremely steep and dangerous, with brutal weather conditions to battle with at the top.

Any money that can be sent to this amazing cause will help spur the team on, we're so determined to help baby Milo, but we need everyone's help to raise the all important cash.

The NUCAS Team plan to leave Newcastle on Friday 20th June at 5:30pm, and travel to Ben Nevis where they will stay in accommodation at the foot of the mountain. The climb will begin in the early hours of Saturday 21st June when they will climb to the top of Ben Nevis, and then back down again. They will then drive to The Lake District and climb Scafell Pike, before finally travelling to Wales to climb Mount Snowdon! The Three Peak Challenge will be completed within 24hrs.

For full 3 Peak Challenge Details click here.

All of the money raised will go directly to Milo's fund. Funds are desperately needed to help us build a sensory room for Milo. This will give him the best possible quality of life.

Team Milo . At the top of Scarfell Pike

We are Team Milo. At present our team consists of Chris Hartley, Stephen Browne, Leanne Lee, Michael Dodds, Dean Armstrong, Sam Scarr, Gordon Armstrong, Glen Robson, Jess Cretu, Emmas Steward, Carl Taylor, Peter Stout, Poppy Mansfield, Emma Giles, Rachel Broadie and Nigel Bramford.

.

This is Team Milo at the top of Scarfell pike, on of our training events. We achieved this in just under 4 hours. It was a fantastic result however it left the team in doubt at all about just how hard this challenge really was.

05/07/2014 Kim Freeman's Triathlon - COMPLETED

NUCAS Triathlon - Kim Freeman .

Hi, and thank you for reading about my event. I am going to be completing one of hardest events that I have ever attempted, the NUCAS Triathlon, in aid of Our Milo.

The event is organised by NUCAS Bootcamps and takes place takes place on 5th July 11-3pm at Tynemouth Longsands.

A triathlon is a multiple-stage competition involving the completion of three continuous and sequential endurance disciplines. In this case Swimming, Cycling, and Running.

Triathlon Details .

The first modern swim/bike/run event to be called a 'triathlon' was held at Mission Bay, San Diego, California on September 25, 1974, since then many variations have been set.

NUCAS have set two levels, I have opted for the higher level and will need to complete a 0.5 mile (750m) swim, followed by a 12.4 mile (20k) cycle ride, followed by a 3.1 mile (5k) run.

05/07/2014 Jacqui Thompson's Triathlon - COMPLETED

NUCAS Triathlon - Jacqui Thompson .

I am going to be completing the hardest thing I have ever done. A triathlon thanks to NUCAS Bootcamps who are training me to smash this for this little boy!

Milo does have the ability to learn and develop through play. Our aim is to raise funds to pay for a fully adapted sensory room for Milo to learn and develop. Milo's parents Stephen Browne and Laura Davidson are now looking to create a bespoke sensory room in their home.

Milo's parents (Stephen and Laura) want to give him the very best quality of life they possibly can, however the reality is that to do so will cost money, far more than they could possibly afford. A basic sensory room will set them back around £15,000, this would be a massive improvement to Milo's life as it would allow him the chance to develop and learn.

My part is never giving up, how painful, how hard as this boy does everyday! I will complete this and crossing the finish line I will hopefully see his face and all will be worth while. Dig deep people, I never ask anything of anyone but now a ask all them favours back! £1 + all will make a difference! Thanks Jx

17/08/2014 Zone 3 Coniston Epic Lakes Swim - COMPLETED

Zone 3 Coniston Epic Lakes swim .

Sue Nicholson, Lindsey Hunter and her son are all doing the ZONE 3 Coniston Epic Lakes Swim on 17th August 2014 in aid of Our Milo

The Epic Lakes Swim Series consists of 3 open water swim events at 3 different locations in Cumbria. Coniston is the third and final event of the series, taking place Sunday August 17th.

The 3 swim distances (500m, 1600m, 3.8km) start at separate times. The 3.8k event will be the first of the day, followed by the 500m and then finally the 1 mile event. Each distance will be a mass start with competitors lining up in the water and starting at the same time.

The course is marked with large yellow marker buoys and water safety cover is in place throughout all of the events. At the start of the event, all swimmers enter the water and make their way to the start line for a 'deep water' start. At the end of the course you will exit the water and run under the finish gantry, across a timing mat to finish the race (all swimmers are given an electronic timing chip which is worn round your ankle). Refreshments are available on the day and all competitors are provided with an event memento on the day. Prizes are available for various categories and all results will be posted on the Epic Events website the following day.

07/09/2014 Danielle Lilley's Bupa Great North Run - COMPLETED

Great North Run .

My name is Danielle Lilley, and I'm a school friend of Laura and Stephen (Milo's parents).

I am taking part in the Great North Run to help raise funds for Milo Browne. Milo has a number of health problems and has experts baffled. Even with everything he has gone through so far in his life he still finds the courage to smile.

His mam and dad are raising funds for a fully adapted sensory room. Milo has no control over any limb and has no head control. Mam and dad have been told milo will never crawl, walk and may never be able to talk. Please dig deep. I am doing a challenge for myself and I want to raise a lot for this little boy who has touched my heart.
